Level 2 Courses -
These second level courses are aimed at those who have already attended a Level 1 course.
The courses cover the specific learning needs of pupils who have sustained an ABI and the teaching methods which are appropriate. The numeracy course makes reference to the NCETM materials, and is delivered by an NCETM accredited trainer.
Getting Ready for Reading and Number looks at the foundations which pupils need in order to engage with academic learing, exploring the concept of 'readiness'. This may be expressed in terms of language and attitude. We will also look at the foundational skills which are needed for these two aspects of learning, and how to use classroom materials to ensure that these are in place. Taking account of the balance of memory skills available to pupils with an ABI we will look at experiential learning and how we can make space for this.
If enough people are interested we may run the following courses
