Perhaps you are going to return to school soon.........

If so CONGRATULATIONS!  I'm sure it will feel great to get back with all your friends.  We have some advice for you

  • Take it easy, don't overdo it!  It is easy to do too much and wear yourself out.
  • There are lots of germs in schools.  If you start to get a cold, make sure you drink lots, eat well and rest so that your body can fight the germs.
  • Ask for help when you need it! People will be happy to help, when they know you need it.
  • Use your planner - write down what you need to remember then you don't have to remember it!
  • Make friends with your teachers, especially the ones in learning support.  If they know about YOU then they can help.
  • You may have a teaching assistant (TA) or learning support assistant (LSA) to help you.  They will be able to explain things about you to the teachers if you make friends with them.

We are sure you will also have lots of advice for others in your situation.  Please tell us and we will pass it on.........

You may find that, after your ABI, you need to use different strategies to be able to learn and complete tasks.  There are probably others in your class using these strategies too.  Teachers know many different strategies and if you are finding something harder than before it is worth asking.  Special Needs teachers are particularly good at this as they have looked at this in detail in their training.  Go and ask for help when you need it.

Don't panic - revision works

With exams looming you will need to do some revision - yes I know it's not popular, but Bekka has written an article which appeared in The Acquirer offering some advice on how to do it.  Click here to read it
