Funding

Funding

Having originally received a generous grant from the Cbit Action for Change programme, SHIPS has had to look for further funding in order to be able to continue helping children and young people in their schools and colleges.

SHIPS became a charity as part of the North-Bristol NHS Charitable Trust (No. 1055900) in 2005 and is now able to receive Gift Aided donations. Donations will be gratefully received in the office.  Cheques should be made payable to SHIPS.  Please ask for a gift aid form if appropriate as this increases the amount available for us to use at no extra cost to you.

Over the years we have received  funding from a number of charitable sources.   Acquire provided a very generous donation from its closure fund, for which we are very grateful. The Yorkshire Building Society Charitable Foundation gave us funding to buy a camcorder and other equipment, while The Roald Dahl Charitable Foundation have funded us to provide interventions for individual children and young people.   The Merchant Venturers in Bristol gave us a donation in 2007 while Web Europe gave us a large discount on setting up this site, which we hope will be of use to parents and teachers alike.

Other donations have been received from:

  • Bristol City College
  • Mr & Mrs Hemmings
  • Mr & Mrs Gardner
  • North-Somerset ISS
  • Nickel-Electro Ltd
  • The John Bentley School
  • HCML
  • Bath University Rag Fund
  • Tots2Teens
  • Lituus Ensemble

Thank you to all donors. We are very grateful for all donations, however large or small.

Future fundraising

We are planning an exhibition and sale of postcard sized paintings in Bristol Cathedral on 13/14 June.  If you would like to donate a painting please get in touch with John Maggs via the office.

A collection is planned outside Sainsburys in Weston-super-Mare on Saturday 29th August 2009.  If you could help by rattling a bucket for an hour, please let us know in the office.

Ideas for fundraisers

There are many things you could do to raise funds for SHIPS,

  • sponsored events
  • coffee mornings, bring and buy sales
  • concerts, plays and dances can all raise funds
  • non-uniform or dressing down days at work
  • donations in lieu of presents or flowers, at Christmas, birthdays or anniversaries
  • auctions of items or promises
  • collections, it could be money, but there are other items which could be collected to resell and raise funds.
  • competitions to see who can get the most money in a smarties tube - then donate the money to SHIPS

Don't let this list limit you.........but I hope it gets you thinking!  Good luck and let us know how you get on.
